History

Established in the early 1900's, Helping Hand Society members were those who then resided in the "Dodge" section of Charlton. Today there are members who still live in this section, but we also embrace those from other areas of town. Current members speak of their mothers, grandmothers, sisters and dear friends who were and are the cornerstone of this longstanding, helpful and caring society. The little Dodge Chapel was built for worshipers in the Dodge Village section of town in 1901. Sporadic services were held here until the 1980's. The Helping Hand Society, a local service organization, has been the guardian of the chapel since before World War I.
